Special
Events…
The EYC
will
meet at 5:00 p.m. at the home of Fr. Sean and Kiezha, 136 Westwood Ave.
Offering Envelopes are now available for 2010.
Please pick up your offering envelopes from the table in the narthex before
you leave today! Remember that you will have envelopes even if you don’t
pledge and your number changes every year. If you don’t find envelopes with
your name on them, please call the parish office.
The 2010 Altar Flower,
Altar Supply and Altar Candle sign up sheets are posted. Please sign up on the
bulletin board by the elevator for your Sunday to provide altar flowers.
These are filled on a first come, first serve basis so if you have a date
that has special meaning to you, sign up early!! Keep in mind that we really
need to fill January and February early and that we will not have open dates
during Lent for flowers.
The Wednesday Lenten
Supper & Program has begun
and will go
through March 24th. Please join us each Wednesday at 5:45 p.m.
for dinner, a presentation and a devotional. Nursery will be available each
Wednesday during these programs. Our Program this year is based on the
traditional disciplines of Lent including fasting, service, spiritual
reading, and scripture reading. The program is interactive giving you the
opportunity each week to help prepare a meal for someone, prepare a small
token for someone in need, discuss a spiritual reading in a group, or
meditation on a passage of scripture with others all immediately after
dinner. Please be sure to sign up on the bulletin board or e-mail the parish
office at
stlukes@aeneas.net to get your name on the list so we know how much food
to prepare!

Christian Education for Adults…
The Upper
Room Class
has resumed meeting each Sunday at 9:15 a.m. All adults are invited. Chris
Wheeler is the class discussion leader. The class is discussing a series of
DVD lectures by Amy-Jill Levine on the Old Testament.
The Tuesday
evening Bible study led by Gene Davenport is now studying some of
the parables of Jesus. The study meets 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., each Tuesday, in
the church library, and uses a discussion format. Since the study is not
about a continuous piece of literature, each evening’s discussion is
self-contained, so you need not worry about coming into the middle of topic.
This Tuesday the passage for discussion is Matthew 25. Everyone is welcome.
Wednesday
Morning Bible Study
with Dr. Brady Whitehead is on a short break and will resume on March 24th.
This Bible study meets at 10:00 a.m. each Wednesday morning. Everyone is
invited to participate.
Other Items
of Interest…
Additional office volunteers are needed to
help while some of the regular volunteers are out. There may also be some
adjustments to the office hours for a short time to come as Trudy continues
physical therapy.
Haiti Relief – Immediate relief for search and rescue can be made
through Episcopal Relief and Development at
www.er-d.org. Saint Luke’s will be undertaking a program to support the
reconstruction of an Episcopal congregation in Haiti. If you would like to
contribute to Saint Luke’s fund for Haiti reconstruction, you may write a
check and place “Haiti” in the memo line.
The Annual ECW Rummage
Sale will be March 20th
from 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. If you have items you would like to donate for
the sale, please bring them to the church during office hours or on Sunday
mornings. Be sure to mark you calendars to come to the sale too. Remember,
one man’s junk is another man’s treasure!!
